If the building of a bridge does not enrich the consciousness of those working on it, then dont build the bridge, and let the citizens continue to swim across the river or use a ferry. -Frantz Fanon

In The Wretched of The EARTH this metaphor stood out to me. It really highlights the current problems in our society that continues to systematically oppress and exploit our people which of course stems from the racism and oppression of all African peoples. Even now being the wealthiest country in the world we have the corrupt ruling class hoarding all wealth enjoying all the luxuries afforded to them by the exploitation of the masses and they just as easily keep the country divided by the constant racist propaganda that it has worked so hard to instill in its American people. I hope that we can unify the masses, properly organize and create a true government by the people and for the people who's priority should be raising the national consciousness of the masses so that every man and woman can participate and have a say in our democracy to build bridges and infrastructure where we all prosper together and improves the lives of all humans. But today we still just have the corruption, constant cuts to education and even previous civil rights victories are being destroyed. The average person struggles to just survive and the homelessness problem continues to grow, how long will the masses continue to tread water before deciding to educate themselves and vote accordingly?
